a division of Seguin Services.
Lori oversees the Adult Day Services Division of SeguinWorks
. There are three locations: The Carr Center in Cicero, The Betty Scheck Senior Center in LaGrange Park and Seguin CLIMB in Villa Park. 300 people are supported in these day service programs. Another part of Lori’s job involves Seguin’s Employment Services. This program employs 180 individuals at businesses in the community. In addition, Lori is the Project Leader for the “Building Bridges to the Future” project. This collaborative effort assists young adults, family and school personnel to prepare young adults to leave high school and secure supports for adulthood.
Seguin Services is a charitable not-for-profit agency serving metropolitan Chicago, always striving to integrate, enrich, and empower people with disabilities. Seguin lives its mission of “supporting adults and children with disabilities and other special needs, enabling them to be productive, valued members of society.” Seguin creates job opportunities and housing options that lead to greater independence, so that men and women with developmental disabilities can live, work, and socialize as their neighbors do. In addition, Seguin provides safe and loving homes for children who have disabilities and serious medical or emotional conditions.

What to Do When Your Child Turns 18
On Saturday, November 12, attorney Kirsten Izatt of the Estate Planning Law Group gave a presentation to the Friends and Family Group at Seguin Services in Cicero, IL. The presentation focused on Transitioning Your Child to Adulthood. The topics covered included Guardianship, Public Benefits, and Special Needs Trusts. Approximately 20 people were in attendance.
