Jeff Matsen, Attorney, Of Counsel

Attorney Jeffrey R. Matsen is a graduate of Brigham Young University, cum laude, having received his law degree with honors (Order of the Coif) from UCLA’s School of Law.  Early in his career, Jeff served a three-year tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps as Judge Advocate with the rank of Captain. He is the founder and partner in charge of Wealth Strategies Counsel, the Estate Planning and Business Transaction Department of Bohm, Matsen, Kegel & Aguilera, LLP and serves of counsel with The Estate Planning Law Group of Wheaton, IL. 

Attorney Matsen’s knowledge, professionalism, responsiveness and integrity have vaulted him to the top of his field culminating in his designation by Worth Magazine as one of "America’s Top 100 Attorneys", by Los Angeles Magazine as one of California’s "Super Lawyers" and by OC Metro Magazine as one of "O.C.'s Top Lawyers. A much sought after and respected educator, Jeff Matsen regularly presents educational seminars for the California State Bar, the National Business Institute, Wealth Counsel, LLC, and has presented seminars for the Center for International Legal Studies, and many different conferences and educational events for advisors and their clients.

Jeff has been a Professor of Law in Business Planning and Estate Planning at Western State University College of Law, an Adjunct Professor of Law at Chapman University School of Law, and an instructor at the Golden Gate University Program of Advanced Taxation.  Jeff has published numerous legal articles on asset protection planning and techniques and entity planning and creation. Jeff’s current areas of practice include asset protection, business formations and transactional matters, estate planning  and tax.  He is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of California; the United States District Court (Central District); the United States Supreme Court; and the United States Tax Court.

He is married to Susan Matsen.  Jeff, Susan, and their family are well established residents of Newport Beach and frequently spend time in the Chicago area with their children and grandchildren.
