Giant Steps Run/Walk on October 6, 2012
The Estate Planning Law Group was a sponsor of the Giant Steps 5K Autism Awareness Run/Walk on October 6, 2012. Attorney Kirsten Izatt along with Community Outreach Coordinator Dianna Weglarz were able to answer any questions the participants had concerning special needs trusts and guardianship issues. In addition, informative brochures were available for those who wished to take information home with them.
The 2nd annual Run/Walk was held at St. James Farm in Winfield. Although it was cool, the day was clear and sunny. The participants enjoyed being outside and supporting such a worthy cause.
Jeni Fulton of Giant Steps announces the race winners.
Giant Steps is a school serving students affected by autism disorders. The school educates its students through individualized programs to meet the needs and capabilities of each individual. In addition to academics a student’s curriculum may include social work, and speech or music therapy. Giant Steps has elementary, junior high and high school programs, and are in the works of establishing an official “transition” program for its 18-22 year-old students. The facility doubles as a training location, hosting seminars and classes for first responders who may encounter those affected by autism.
