Future Care Planning for Children with Special Needs
Tim Ashcraft of Protected Tomorrows
On Monday, February 6, 2012, the Estate Planning Law Group in conjunction with Protected Tomorrows presented a seminar concerning Future Care Planning for Children with Special Needs. The event was held at St. Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn, IL.
Tim Ashcraft, benefits specialist, of Protected Tomorrows spoke about the various public benefits that are available to those with special needs. He also discussed how to go about securing these benefits. His “insider” tips were very helpful to the audience.
Attorney Kirsten Izatt
Attorney Kirsten Izatt spoke about the legal portion of planning for a child with special needs. The term Guardianship was defined. Then Kirsten explained when and how to go about obtaining Guardianship. The other main topic covered was Special Needs Trusts. Kirsten explained the benefits of having a trust as well as the various types of Special Needs Trusts.
